Monica N. Saenz

As a Partner at De Mott, Curtright & Armendáriz, LLP (DMCA), Monica N. Saenz is an accomplished immigration attorney who leads the firm’s Consular Processing Practice. Board Certified in Immigration and Nationality Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, Monica represents individuals and families in complex immigration matters involving U.S. embassies and consulates around the world. She is fluent in Spanish and brings extensive experience in consular processing, family-based immigration, inadmissibility waivers, naturalization, humanitarian visas, and removal defense.

Monica helps clients pursue immigrant and nonimmigrant visas through U.S. consulates worldwide. She also develops strategies for individuals facing grounds of inadmissibility and assists them in seeking waivers based on their specific circumstances. Her practice includes family-based petitions, marriage-based immigration, consular interviews, naturalization, VAWA self-petitions, U visas, and other complex immigration matters. Through her leadership, Monica has helped strengthen DMCA’s ability to guide families through the often complicated intersection of U.S. immigration law and international consular processing.

A native of McAllen, Texas, Monica’s commitment to immigrant communities is deeply connected to her South Texas roots. Before joining DMCA, she practiced criminal law and removal defense at a local law firm. She also volunteered with the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office and worked with ProBAR, where she represented unaccompanied immigrant children. These experiences gave her a valuable understanding of the criminal, humanitarian, and immigration issues that can affect an individual’s ability to enter or remain in the United States.

Monica earned her undergraduate degree from Southern Methodist University, where she belonged to several honor societies, chaired the University Hearing Board, and served on the University Honor Council. She later attended St. Mary’s University School of Law, where she was an octofinalist in the annual Jenkens & Gilchrist Moot Court Competition and served as Executive Articles Editor and a contributing writer for The Scholar: St. Mary’s Law Review on Minority Issues. She also studied international law at the St. Mary’s Institute on World Legal Problems in Innsbruck, Austria.

Through her legal knowledge, leadership, and personal understanding of the communities she serves, Monica provides attorney-led representation to families navigating some of the most consequential stages of the U.S. immigration process.
