Alejandra Martinez was born in Minnesota to immigrant parents who raised her in a Spanish-speaking home in the Rio Grande Valley. Ms. Martinez graduated from St. Mary’s University School of Law with cum laude honors. As a law student, Ms. Martinez represented low-income immigrant clients in the Immigration and Human Rights Clinic. Ms. Martinez also served as a staff writer in The Scholar: St. Mary’s Law Review on Race & Social Justice. Thereafter, Ms. Martinez was selected to serve on The Scholar’s editorial board as an associate editor. Ms. Martinez also worked as a research assistant for Professor Ramona Lampley and Professor Erica B. Schommer. Finally, Ms. Martinez worked as a law clerk with DMCA for over a year and helped draft appellate briefs to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Board of Immigration Appeals. Ms. Martinez serves as the DMCA Austin office managing attorney.
