SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS (July 11, 2026) — We are pleased to announce that Hebert Ibarra Castro has been released from immigration detention and is now reunited with his family. Hebert’s family, friends and fellow musicians plan to attend a celebration of his freedom this evening at Augies’s BBQ.
Hebert is an incredibly talented Mariachi and an important member of our community. He went to school in San Antonio, earning a degree from Fox Tech. He is married to a U.S. citizen and had filed to obtain his lawful status the day before his immigration arrest. While in immigration detention he performed the national anthem on America’s 250th birthday.
“Hebert should not have been placed in detention,” said Lance Curtright. “He has no criminal history, is married to a U.S. citizen, and had applied for his green card. I look forward to representing him through the lawful immigration process and, down the road, seeing him become a citizen of the United States.”
